This mouse is not just another mouse with a Citrix logo on it. It&#8217;s <strong>a mouse that works in Citrix Receiver with iOS-Devices!<\/strong>\u00a0Yes it&#8217;s the truth, normal\u00a0bluetooth mice doesn&#8217;t work with the Citrix receiver on iPad.<\/p>\n<p>Even when I was not on Citrix Summit, with the social media channels I was pretty fast to get that Info and I was the 7th on the <a href=\"http:\/\/discussions.citrix.com\/topic\/359584-x1-mouse-giveaway-no-customer-names\/\" target=\"_blank\">order form<\/a>\u00a0to request\u00a0this cool gadget for a described use case. \u00a0I want to demonstrate\u00a0this in my company because we are currently in a VDI initiative project with up to 2000 VDIs.<\/p>\n<p>Today almost\u00a04 months later I received my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.citrix.com\/go\/citrix-mouse.html\" target=\"_blank\">Citrix X1 Prototype Mouse<\/a>\u00a0and can start test and maybe show off in my company \ud83d\ude42 To be honest, the design don&#8217;t give me the chance to show off &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-324 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mouse-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Mouse\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mouse-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mouse-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Mouse.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-325 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/MouseBottom-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"MouseBottom\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/MouseBottom-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/MouseBottom-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/MouseBottom.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><br \/>\nThe X1 Mouse appears in a nasty 80ties style, the power switch on the bottom has three possible positions, up- and down for ON and OFF in the middle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connect the mouse to the iPhone? Really? 4,7 inch ?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not only the iPad is the only use case for the mouse, remember 2010 the Vision of the Nirvana Device and the Motorola <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.citrix.com\/2011\/01\/05\/the-nirvanaphone-is-here-with-the-motorola-atrix-and-citrix-receiver\/\" target=\"_blank\">NirvanaPhone\u00a0<\/a>. With the new version of the Citrix Receiver for iOS you can connect a Screen on your iPhone, a Bluetooth Keyboard, that mouse and you can work with the iPhone as &#8222;Thin Client&#8220; on you television connected with Airplay or on your 24&#8243; Office Screen connected with a Lightning VGA adapter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I made some quick hands-on test:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve used the following infrastructure to test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>XenDesktop 5 \u00a0on Windows 7 x64, Citrix Webinterface behind Netscaler Gateway.<\/li>\n<li>XenDesktop 7.6 on Windows 7 x64, Citrix Webinterface behind Netscaler Gateway.<\/li>\n<li>XenApp 7.6 Desktop on Windows 2008 R2, Citrix StoreFront 2.6\u00a0behind Netscaler Gateway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For all tests I used my Apple iPad mini with the R1 Receiver which is mandatory necessary to use the\u00a0X1 Prototype Mouse.\u00a0I didn&#8217;t install anything special on XenDesktop or XenApp.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_313\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-313\" class=\"wp-image-313\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11210509_10205552449102835_7320258021443610820_n-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"11210509_10205552449102835_7320258021443610820_n\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11210509_10205552449102835_7320258021443610820_n-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11210509_10205552449102835_7320258021443610820_n-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11210509_10205552449102835_7320258021443610820_n.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-313\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">iPad Mini, Belkin Keyboard, Citrix X1 Prototype Mouse<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next points where I mention what is ok and what needs improvement I will\u00a0complement as soon as I have new points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What works fine:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No issue to connect and use the mouse if you follow the <a href=\"http:\/\/discussions.citrix.com\/topic\/359526-instructions\/\" target=\"_blank\">instructions<\/a> from Citrix.<\/li>\n<li>I can use the X1 mouse inside my virtual desktop like a normal mouse, I can launch applications from start menu, change the active cells in MS Excel &#8211; most things I usually do with my mouse works.<\/li>\n<li>I can configure in mouse pointer options a &#8222;mouse track&#8220; which also works fine.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What currently\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0work or need still improvement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I tried to resize\u00a0an Internet Explorer window and was irritated because the mouse pointer doesn&#8217;t change his \u00a0shape on the edge of the window to a &#8222;double-arrow&#8220;:\n<div id=\"attachment_318\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-expected.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-318\" class=\"wp-image-318 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-expected-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"mouseedge-expected\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-expected-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-expected.jpg 519w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-318\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Expected mouse pointer on window edge, <strong>with a classic mouse on my macbook<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_319\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-UNexpected.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-319\" class=\"wp-image-319 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-UNexpected-300x286.jpg\" alt=\"mouseedge-UNexpected\" width=\"300\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-UNexpected-300x286.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.sachathomet.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mouseedge-UNexpected.jpg 415w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-319\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Unexpected mouse pointer on window edge, <strong>from iOS with the X1 Prototype mouse<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Most mouse properties (Mouse speed, pointer scheme, etc.) has no effect.<\/li>\n<li>I can see my mouse pointer in my R1 Receiver for iOS on the\u00a0Webinterface but I cannot click anything.
